Media mogul Rupert Murdoch reportedly spoke on the phone with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, according to CNN, after rumors swirled that Murdoch’s wishes to have Fox News cover Trump’s campaign less caused internal disagreements at the network.
The phone call, which took place about a week ago, was described as a “peace making effort,” according to CNN.
Murdoch reportedly told Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes to “back off the Trump coverage” at the conservative news channel and Ailes told Murdoch he was going to cover the campaign “the way he wanted to.”
Ailes later said that his relationship with Murdoch “has never been better.”
Murdoch has privately criticized Trump and has also taken to Twitter to air his grievances.

Aside from any so-called “practical” considerations, it is fitting that Murdoch would recognize the pure emotional appeal of Trump to his followers
